Offshore Wind Turbines
Overview
For several years we have been involved with the UMass Amherst Renewable Energy Resource Laboratory, specifically focusing on offshore developments forthcoming in the United States. Much of these developments are still unfolding.
Focus
Our focus has centered on the geotechnical aspects of offshore wind farm development, particularly with respect to site investigation practice and foundation design systems. With no offshore wind turbine installations US waters to date, a synthesis of international practice was performed and summarized in a report. The forthcoming project will focus on installation of a series of turbines offshore Massachusetts. More information will be posted once the project is formally launched.
